DTF Pressing Instructions

To get the best results from your DTF transfers, it’s important to follow the correct pressing steps. At DTF Prints Florida, we’ve made the process simple with clear instructions you can use for shirts, hoodies, bags, and more.

Heat Press Settings

  • Temperature: 300–325°F

  • Pressure: Medium to firm

  • Time: 10–15 seconds

(Settings may vary slightly depending on your press and fabric. Always test first on a sample when possible.)

Step-by-Step Pressing Guide

Step 1: Pre-Press the Garment

  • Place the garment on your press.

  • Pre-press for 3–5 seconds to remove wrinkles and moisture.

  • This helps the transfer adhere smoothly.

Step 2: Place the Transfer

  • Position the transfer film on the garment (design facing down).

  • Make sure it’s straight and centered.

  • Use heat-resistant tape if needed to hold it in place.

Step 3: Press the Transfer

  • Close the press with medium to firm pressure.

  • Press for 10–15 seconds at 300–325°F.

  • Apply even pressure across the design.

Step 4: Peel the Film

  • Let the transfer cool slightly (or fully, depending on hot peel or cold peel type).

  • Slowly peel away the film from one corner.

  • If part of the design lifts, re-press for a few more seconds.

Step 5: Final Press (Recommended)

  • Place a Teflon sheet or parchment paper on top of the design.

  • Re-press for 5–7 seconds.

  • This locks in the transfer for extra durability.

Care Instructions After Pressing

  • Wash garments inside out in cold water.

  • Use mild detergent, no bleach.

  • Tumble dry low or hang dry.

  • Do not iron directly on the transfer.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • Design not sticking? → Increase pressure slightly or press for a few more seconds.

  • Edges peeling? → Use a final press with Teflon paper for 5–7 seconds.

  • Cracking after wash? → Check that your press was hot enough and that you applied medium to firm pressure.
